Zahra Eshraghi told us that this unique couple completed each other in poetry. What you read below is parts of an interview with Zahra Eshraghi, the daughter of Imam’s older daughter, she holds a B.A from the Tehran University and is head of the Supporting Women Union and a member of the Reformist Women.
Imam’s wife had a notebook full of her own poetry and she used to read poems from famous Iranian poets as Hafez and Saadi.
Along with her taste in poetry, she was also interested in learning about world’s history and geography. The lady of the revolution improved her information in these fields from her children and grandchildren. I remember few years ago we had a trip to Italy for my husbands job and we visited a few of their famous museums there, when we returned to Iran and I went to meet my grandmother, she surprised me by asking about the museums and there specifications and the works inside them.
Her respect to customs and orders was outstanding. I should also mention that I haven’t seen someone respect his wife along with love as Imam did. This lady, in her great life beside the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran played an important role in his successes.
If the lady found a position in Imam’s heart and Imam viewed her as his beloved, we should seek for its reason in her personality. Her great personality made Imam’s view towards women. The lady broke the traditional walls around women and if we see that Imam’s view in this issue is optimistic it’s because he had an intellectual woman in his life.
