Qalibaf made the remark in an address to a huge crowd of people from all walks of life in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Friday, who took to the streets to mark the International Quds Day.
He said Palestine has awakened the conscience of the international community in the face of the arrogant system.
"If Palestine and the resistance front were only fighting against the Zionist regime, rest assured that this regime would not be able to resist or stand for even a week,” he added.
“The Zionist regime (Israel) is a fake regime and Israel has no power within itself without the US,” he said.
Qalibaf emphasized that the US military, intelligence and political support for Israel has led to the occupying regime’s survival.
The Iranian Parliament speaker noted that the hegemonic system and global arrogance are committing crimes against the resistance front.
“They not only disregard international regulations but also the binding law of war…They attack the people of Palestine and the resistance front with all their power and technology, using illegal and inhumane bombs,” he pointed out.
He, however, said the resistance front stands against the world war of the hegemonic system and has the necessary power to counter the Israeli regime.
The Tel Aviv regime has failed to achieve all the objectives formulated by the US and Britain in the strategic and tactical fields, he explained.
The top Iranian parliamentarian said the issue of Palestine has turned into a global topic and a concern for humanity and all freedom-seekers, noting that even the US president cuts funding for universities that defend Palestine and speak out against the Israeli regime.
He added, “The story of Palestine over the past decades and for many years has been a tale full of sorrow not only for the Muslim world but for all humanity and the human community. This story serves as a lesson and a role model.”
Qalibaf said Palestine is a touchstone that does not allow seemingly flamboyant slogans and the dual behavior of the West to be promulgated.
Negotiations under threat aim to impose demands on Iran
Elsewhere in his address, Qalibaf said the US claim on holding negotiations with Iran under threat aims to impose demands on the Islamic Republic.
“The US leaders seek not only to disregard the economic interests of the Iranian nation but also to strip us of our defensive capabilities. This is why they talk about negotiations,” he added.
He emphasized that the Iranian nation well knows that negotiations with the purpose of forced acceptance of the enemy's demands are a precursor to war, and “no wise and courageous person or nation would accept such a thing."
He reiterated that US President Donald Trump’s letter to Iran did not include any point about the removal of sanctions, saying, “No one can deceive the Iranian people or bully them.”
He affirmed the Islamic Republic’s constant readiness to counter enemies by relying on its Armed Forces and united Iranian nation.
“We are not afraid of any threat but the Americans, themselves, know how vulnerable they are, and if they violate Iran's territory, it will be like a spark in a powder keg that could explode the entire region and at that point, their bases and those of their allies will not remain safe,” Qalibaf pointed out.
Trump revealed in early March that he had sent a letter to Iran. At the same time, he reinstated his maximum pressure policy against Iran by imposing fresh sanctions on the country.
Iran has stressed time and again that it won’t sit at the negotiating table with the US administration as Trump continues his pressure campaign against Tehran.
The Trump administration recently restored the so-called maximum pressure policy, first introduced during Trump’s initial term in office in 2016.
Under this policy, Trump withdrew the United States from a landmark agreement on Iran's nuclear program in 2018 and reimposed crippling sanctions on Tehran.
The 2015 deal, signed between Tehran and world powers, saw Iran commit to temporary confidence-building restrictions on its nuclear activities in exchange for the removal of Western-imposed economic sanctions.
On March 7, Trump announced he had written to Iran to call for nuclear negotiations and threaten military action.
