In Malik's Ashtar covenant, Imam Ali has presented an interpretation about the covenant, which is one of the masterpieces of Nahj al-Balagha. Imam ‘Ali recommends to Malik as following:
"If you establish a bond between yourself and your enemies, strengthen it with loyalty."
In this section, it has been stressed that it is a very important “that if you make a promise and are not trustworthy, you have betrayed.”
The grandson of the late founder of the Islamic Republic said humanity has learned from the experience that if it does not keep its promise, it will suffer. Betrayal of promise and covenant may have a short-term joy, but the temporary benefits of are of no value.
"Apart from Muslims, polytheists are also obliged to fulfill this promise."
Seyyed Hassan Khomeini said that "we in recent months have seen honesty and fluffiness of promises by the president and his faithfulness to the principles of the revolution and ideals of Imam has been of great significance." Emphasizing the government's loyalty to its promises, he said.
“Thank God, what the people have seen in by the president during these three, four months is "honesty" and "keeping his promise". “And what they expect the most is "honesty" and "steadfastness and commitment and adhere to its principles.”
