Seyyed Hassan Khomeini in a message to the Iranian nation on Thursday said that people must pave the way to realize "justice and boost "national integration" by making responsible choices.
He further said that not attaching significance to election or staying away from casting ballots is not a good strategy to solve current problems facing the country.
Seyyed Hassan Khomeini said in the message as following:
Now, on the eve of the second round of the 14th presidential election runoff, the most important issue is the presence of all of us, especially the youth, in this vital scene and arena.
This is a scene that can affect and impact our fate for decades. Friday, in addition to decisively participating in the elections, with the right choice, we can and should prepare the way to fulfill the forgotten motto of the Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic who said: "All together".
And I sincerely have to say especially to those who did not participate in the first round of the elections, that staying away from ballot boxes is not a good strategy to solve the current problems, and even it can make the current hurdles facing the country more and more complicated.
I ask each one of dear ones, not to remind indifferent to your future and with a sense of responsibility pave the way for the realization of justice and national integration and avoid extremes with making a responsible choice.
Masoud Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili received the highest number of votes but no candidate managed to secure the absolute majority, paving the way for the runoff election.
Pezeshkian is a former health minister and senior lawmaker from the northwestern city of Tabriz.
Jalili is the former lead nuclear negotiator and head of the top security body.
More than 24 million people cast their votes in Friday’s election to replace Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi, who lost his life in a helicopter crash on May 19.
