Hojjat al-Islam Ali Komsari made remarks during a recent meeting with the Palestinian ambassador to Tehran.
Komsari went onto says that the existing balance of power in the occupied territories of Palestine and elsewhere across the region is in favor of anti-Israel resistance, urging all Muslims to help Palestinians in their struggle against Israel.
He also said that the support for the Palestinian issue by Imam Khomeini dates back even prior to the victory of the Islamic Revolution when Imam used to strongly criticize the then Shah regime for ignoring Palestine against Israeli brutality.
Following the victory of Islamic Revolution under Imam’s leadership, Palestinian issue is considered as an essential pillar of the Iranian policy and part of the Iranians’ faith and belief, Komsari said.
Iran will continue to support Palestine as one of its top foreign policy priorities, he stressed.
The Palestinian envoy, for his part, thanked the Islamic Republic for its firm stances on supporting the cause of Palestine.
Quds Day events have been held worldwide on the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Today marks this year’s Quds Day.
Imam Khomeini once said in a historic message regarding the International Quds Day as following:
Quds Day is an Islamic day and an Islamic general mobilization day. I hope that this theme is a precursor to the formation of the “Party of the Oppressed” throughout the world.
Al-Quds day was declared by Iran’s revolutionary Islamic leader Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979 as a day when the entire world is to turn their attentions to the plight of the Palestinian people.
The event falls on the last Friday of Ramadan, which will this year work to energize the already inspired Palestinian people to take a greater stand over the attacks on al-Quds.
Meanwhile, Palestinian resistance movements in Gaza, meanwhile, kept up their armed response to the Israeli attacks that, since their onset last Monday, have killed 213 Palestinians, including 61 children, 36 women, and 16 elderly people. A total of 1,442 others have also been wounded during the assaults.
Sustained retaliatory rocket barrages from the direction of Gaza had forced many Israelis to leave Tel Aviv for illegal settlements in the West Bank.
The battle against the Israeli regime’s escalated atrocities against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank has spread throughout the borders that used to demarcate Palestine before the regime’s 1948 invasion.
Besides Gaza and the West Bank, there were reports on Tuesday that the rest of the territories occupied by Israel were also witnessing a “general strike” and angry demonstrations.
Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen television network said the enraged public had opted for the measures in support of those who have been subjected to the Israeli brutalities in Gaza and the West Bank.
