Dr. Mohammad Moghaddam made remarks among a recently mourning ceremony which was held in remembrance of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the third Shia imam.
The ceremony was also attended by Ayatollah Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of the founder of the Islamic Republic.
Dr. Moghaddam, the head of international department of the institute for the compilation and publication of Imam Khomeini’s works further said that Imam Khomeini, the father of the Islamic Revolution proved to the entire world that a politician can be truthful, honest, and attaches a great significance to morality and the human dignity.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Muslim scholar also noted that Islam sees no contradiction between the intellect and the divine revelation or between science and the religion.
The human intellect is capable of interpreting the divine revelation, he suggested.
Hojjat al-Islam Moghaddam made clear that the intellectual growth is given no importance and suppressed in authoritarian system. This is while the religion and divine revelation have instructed the human being to exercise their intellect power in all perspectives, the scholar emphasized.
The academic figure also strongly denounced some superstitious rites among public which could hinder the man’s intellectual power.
He emphasized that the jurisprudence and ethics must become inseparable in order to get productive results and feel positive signs in the society.
The scholar concluded by saying that the divine religions are fully capable of being answerable to all queries of generations over the upcoming centuries at sensitive junctures of history even when philosophy or sciences fall short.
