Any person ought to be self-sufficient

Sometimes when we were sitting together, we would notice the Imam suddenly get up from his place and walk towards the kitchen. When we would ask him where he was going, he replied: “I am going to drink a glass of water” to which we protested “you should have told us and we would have fetched it for you!” The Imam asserted: “Do you think I cannot do it myself” and then with a smile added, “any person ought to be self-sufficient”.
